Wrapped Up in Style

Style is defined by expressing yourself through what you wear.

Style refers to a unique form of clothing or way of arranging your appearance.

Style is different to everyone, you can give two or more people the same piece of clothing and they may style it completely different in what their own vision of style is.

Today’s post is in collaboration with Meach from My Versatile Style blog. Meach is a fellow Clevelander and a kickass girlboss who shows off her killer sense of style and how to style versatile pieces. I love looking at her Instagram (@itsmemeach) for inspiration and the latest fashion trends.

We are showing you today how 2 different people take the same piece of clothing and make it into 2 different outfits with their own personal style. We both took the same floral wrap dress from Nordstrom Rack with these great tied off bow cuffs and styled it our own ways in terms of what our personal style means to us.

Meach really captured the essence of transitional fashion by taking this long-sleeved dress and pairing it with nude stacked heels and a cognac leather bag. She truly balanced that in-between season style, since even though its October we have been getting some 80 degree days. Another thing I really love about her look is, she truly let the dress be the hero. She is not trying to make the dress work she is working the dress.

Are you inspired yet? I know I am, and I am going to file this look away for the next time I wear my dress. Check out what she has to say and additional gorgeous photos of Meach working this dress on her blog here!

When styling the same dress for myself, I know I wanted to take what felt like a more feminine wrap dress and give it a more edgy feel by adding little details that I have been loving lately to show off a different side of this dress.

Thick black belts with brass hardware is a classic piece that is truly timeless – there is something vintage about it that I love. To add a bit of edge I am wearing my favorite pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses right now that I cannot get enough of. For a while, their wayfarers were a staple but in the past 2 years, the round metal style truly made a comeback and the thin gold metal gives them an effortlessly cool vibe.

I wanted to add to the retro aspect of this look and I thought my gold hoops from Target would be perfect, as they hint at a 70s feel but don’t take to much away from my overall look. I have been wearing my gold hoops religiously lately, I truly feel that gold hoops are the new diamond (or CZ) stud – a classic in the making.

We can’t forget to talk about my latest obsession… socks & heels

If you remember from my blog post last week which I talked about this fall trend and gave some inspiration here, I thought this dress would be perfect to add this touch too. Some might see it as a bit much or busy, but I think it truly brings this outfit into fall and takes the dress to this retro yet trendy level that I was craving.

This dress is currently in stock at Nordstrom Rack last time I checked. And if you do not feel like heading out to your local Nordy Rack store never fear as you can snag it online as well here for only $26! I got a size medium, but honestly with the elastic waist I really probably could have gotten a small. Also, here is some other floral wrap dress that I am swooning over.

Alson Jewelers & IPPOLITA

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a Bloggers & Bellinis event at Alson Jewelers in Woodmere, Ohio. Alson teamed up with IPPOLITA Jewelry to discuss fall jewelry trends and great tips and tricks for styling your jewelry by Courtney Craft, Stylist from IPPOLITA.

The morning was filled with beautiful jewelry, great company, and of course bellinis. We all got to try on some of the most beautiful and versatile necklaces from IPPOLITA and learn different ways to layer and create different looks with one necklace. What I loved about the IPPOLITA’s necklaces is that they are designed to be easily worn multiple ways. You can simply just slip it over your neck, wrap it to create a layered look, or create a choker that gives you a Y look that either drapes down your back or chest to add an interesting touch to your outfits. Courtney also demonstrated to us with IPPOLITA’s oval-shaped bangles (which are designed to fit a womans wrist more comfortably since we do not have perfectly circled wrists) how to use a silk scarf to put on and remove a bangle with ease.

We all then took a Style Personality Quiz to help match us with the perfect jewelry set – I got Classicist which did not surprise me as I would describe my style as “minimal and meaningful”.

I want to give a special shout-out to Jill Schreibman and the Schreibman Brothers for hosting such a wonderful event at 4th generation owned Alson Jewelers. This jeweler has so much to offer – watch and jewelry repair & cleaning, a beautiful wedding shop, along with great fashion to classic jewelry offerings; they truly made it a one stop shop!

Amanda from Blissful Gal and Katie from Kausally Katie – Go check out these ladies blogs they are seriously killing it!

After the Bloggers & Bellinis event Amanda, Katie and I decided to head to Legacy Village to grab a bite to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and do a little much-needed shopping. Which of course when you get 3 bloggers together a mini photo session ensues, but can you blame us? The day was to much fun not to properly document.

After shopping till we almost dropped we decided to end this amazing Cleveland day with checking out the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. I was really excited to check it out since I have never been there and have heard great things about this little Cleveland gem.

What I loved about the Aquarium was there were so many knowledgeable workers there in case you had any questions about what you were looking at or they were already giving a presentation for a larger exhibit that you can easily join to listen in. The Aquarium also provides a lot of touch and feel stations to give a more one on one experience and teach kids and adults a little bit more how to interact with sea life.

You could tell that we were all Finding Nemo and Finding Dory fans since our venture through the aquarium consisted a lot of quoting both movies.

Bottomline if you are looking for a fun, nicely located, and family friendly (of all ages) weekend activity you should take a day out of your weekend and check out the Greater Cleveland Aquarium.

Thank you Greater Cleveland Aquarium for having Amanda, Katie and I come and explore everything you have to offer!

Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

The transitional period where summer starts to slow down and it begins to get darker little by little. That time where you can open your windows again and start to feel the nice crisp breeze come in. You can start to pull out your favorite sweaters and jackets to wear on a evening walk and not be too hot. This is one of my favorite times in Northeast Ohio.

Now although this is one of my favorite times in NEO, it can be hard deciding what to wear. I love crop jeans, or just crop pants in general, and these cropped destroyed flares from Old Navy are one of my favorites for this time! Along with a nice light weight button down is great to wear during this time. It is just a timeless article to have, striped or solid. I got this striped button down from Target and what I love about this one, besides being light weight, is that is very long in length to make it easier to tuck in or tie in front, which is what I am doing below.

Please lets talk about these slip on mule loafers which are also from Target and are most importantly, COMFORTABLE! I have been looking at this style of shoe for a very long time. When Gucci came out with them over a year ago and the price tag was a bit too steep, then shortly after that Steve Madden came out with their version which was more in reason (around $80 I believe), but when Target came into play the price was right at $23 and I had to get them!

This outfit, although casual, has a little bit of flare with bringing in the slip on mule loafers. I like to mix two type of styles together (although sometimes it doesn’t work) to create a new style. Its unexpected, but doesn’t give a feeling of too dressed down or too dressed up which can worn in multiple settings or transitional periods.

When looking for transitional pieces think light weight but also pieces that can cover up or light layers for those times were it does get warmer during midday. Cropped pants are another great piece to wear since you don’t have to wear boots yet (not that they will look bad necessarily) . And the best part is that these pieces will be also great for the winter to spring transition.

Scroll down and get excited for fall in Northeast Ohio – one of the most beautiful time us us NEOhioians.
