Black Friday Sales I’m Shopping

Let me start off by saying that I am not a Black Friday shopper – I hate going out super early on Friday morning or even worse on Thanksgiving to get “the best deal of the year”. BUT I am a sleep-in Friday morning, make some coffee, and browse my favorite store/brand’s website Black Friday shopper. So if you are like me and like to shop from the comfort of your own home in your comfy clothes with coffee in hand here are some of the sales that I will be shopping this week.

Madewell.com

If I could just wear Madewell the rest of my life I would be completely fine with that. I very rarely find a brand that everything literally just speaks to me, but when it does it is Madewell and it comes with a sometimes not so wallet-friendly price tag. That is why you want to shop their Black Friday sale which is actually going on now, yes NOW! 25% off their entire site if you use the promo code DONTSTRESS. Here are my picks from their site:

 Abercrombie.com

I used to manage an Abercrombie back in the day and dreaded working Black Friday, but flash forward to today and I love shopping their Black Friday sale! Now although Abercrombie has not released their Black Friday sale they usually stay quite consistent which is usually 50% off the entire store like last year and Abercrombie will most likely start this sale on Thursday. Here are some of my picks:

Zara.com

I love Zara, its great for basics, is decent quality, and it doesn’t bust the bank. One thing I hate about Zara is their website, it is not the most user-friendly (at least to me), I get frustrated and overwhelmed easily by it. This would be actually one retailer I would rather shop the store to find what I need, but since I won’t be heading out to my local Zara online it is! I recommend browsing the website before they launch the Black Friday sale so you can weed through all their clothing and accessories and not risk anything running out of stock while searching. Now Zara has also not released their sale but if it is anything like last year it should be 20 to 30% off select apparel. Here are a few of my picks:

CAT’S EYE SUNGLASSES

Glossier.com

Last but not least is Glossier, now again this brand has yet to release their Black Friday sale, but I do know that there is a great sale in store you just need to be patient a little bit longer. Again like Sephora, Glossier’s Black Friday sale is a great time to stock up or finally try out the brand. Here is my rep link to get 20% off your first purchase along with free shipping on $30 or more. I know I will be using this sale to stock up on some of my absolute favorites such as these:

Glossier Review #2

Happy Monday all, it has been awhile since I did my first Glossier review and since then I have acquired many more products I wanted to share my opinions on. I know these posts are very appreciated because Glossier is more or less a web-based company unless you are able to get to their NYC showroom it is sometimes hard to pick out items when you can’t test them in person first. So let’s just dive right in shall we?

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

A product that has truly become one of my favorites is the Milky Jelly Cleanser. When I first got this product I really didn’t find it anything special about but threw it in my shower anyways. I started noticing myself use it more and more and bringing it out of the shower and even began traveling with it. Honestly, I think the scent and how gentle it is on my skin is what I like the most about it. Another great thing about this cleanser is its versatility, it can remove non-waterproof makeup when applied to dry skin. It has the same cleaning agents as contact solution so you can open up your eyes and not have to worry about any stinging. Overall I think this is a great cleanser to have in your cabinet and a great product to travel with.

I love blush. It is definitely one of the products I don’t leave the house without so when Glossier came out with 4 shades of Cloud Paint blushes I had to get my hands on them. They offer 4 beautiful colors in Puff, Beam, Haze, and Dusk that were inspired by the NYC sunset. I got 3 of the 4 shades in Beam a coral, Haze a berry, and Dusk a nude-ish shade. The bendability of this product really amazes me, it creates such a natural flush to your cheeks. I mix the shades sometimes which makes them feel a bit more customizable. You don’t need a lot of product so these last a good amount of time or if you apply too much I just use a foundation brush to blend it out and it does a good job of collecting the extra product.

I really love face masks, I love pampering myself with them when I need a little extra TLC. Glossier has 2 masks, the Moisturizing Moon Mask and Mega Greens Galaxy Pack Mask, which is the one that I purchased. Now although I do really enjoy this mask I think that it does what other drugstore masks that I’ve enjoyed do. After purchasing this detoxifying mask I found more people saying that they liked the moisturizing mask better or liked using both together. I don’t think I will be repurchasing this product, and don’t find myself gravitating towards it when I am looking to pamper myself with a mask.

I was really excited to get my hands on the Body Hero Duo because Glossier said since they gave you dewy glowy skin for your face they wanted to do it for your body. My first impression when I used this was being obsessed with the luxurious feel of this product on my skin to the scent of orange blossom neroli which makes you smell like a French baby. The body oil is not slippery and yet provide an oily texture, a mix of a shower gel and oil, that still foams up. The body cream was thicker then I thought it would be which was nice and it absorbed fairly quickly for how thick it is. There is also these light-reflecting particles in the cream that give your skin this glowy sheen which is perfect when you want to show off some skin. I love using this in the shower and after when I want to feel fancy and pampered.

The Haloscope in Quartz which I know in itself has a pretty huge cult following and although I do really love this product and the way it looks on my skin I think I almost prefer the Becca highlighter a bit more. I think this is a great highlighter to travel with and keep in your purse for some midday touch-ups. Although I don’t think I would repurchase this product in quartz I am a bit curious about trying this product in topaz – I have seen people use it as a eyeshadow and it really looks lovely.

Glossier is all about the dewy glowy skin so when they came out with a powder I was shocked. They call it Wowder, not a powder and I think that is a perfect description of this product. I am a person that needs their concealer to be set or it will just crease halfway through the day, but when I use it I end up mattifying the dewy look I just created. I really wanted to try this product out and I couldn’t resist getting the brush that came with it – maybe because I wanted a mini pink pouch? Now although it doesn’t keep that dewy look completely intact it doesn’t completely mattify either, I don’t think you are going to find a powder that will do that so, I think this is pretty damn close. I think that diamond powder in this product may be the secret to this product and it applies nicely as it is a very very fine product.

Glossier You is your perfect everyday scent that is truly perfect for everyone. This scent is very well balanced, creamy, clean, and warm. The only downside I can see with this product is that it is $60 for 1.7 oz., I wish I got a little bit more for my money but this scent is truly lovely so I can overlook that. I like that this perfume wears nicely throughout the day as well, I can still get hints of it after hours. I usually gravitate to a more masculine scent but the warm notes in this make it very nice to wear during the day hours on a everyday basis.

A Day in Northeast Ohio

A few weekends ago my friend Eileen and I traveled to Canton’s Art District to check out their Saturday Flea. Although it was smaller then the Cleveland Flea it was located in a very aesthetically pleasing part of Canton filled with great vintage stores and unique restaurants.

After popping into a few of those stores coffee was necessary to continue to browse the streets. There was the cutest little coffee camper providing the flea with some delicious brew of iced and nitro coffee.

Excuse my pre-coffee resting bitch face (insert upside down smile emoji)

After we finished up wandering the Flea and stopping in at the Little Chicago Clothing Company store for Eileen to get the perfect Ohio sweatshirt for fall, our stomachs started rumbling for some food. Since Eileen used to go to college around the area she recommended for us to get some waffles, and not just your regular waffles, only the best ones in Canton from Cultured Coffee & Waffles. This place takes waffles to the next level! Eileen got the Grandpa’s Grilled Cheese waffle that was stuffed with mac and cheese and I got the Hell’s Chicken Waffle which if you like buffalo chicken dip this waffle tastes just like that!

After eating every single bite of our waffles and actual contemplating to order and splitting another one we needed to walk it off. We stumbled upon this great wall of art and thought it would be a great place to snap a few pictures! I just recently treated myself to a FOUNT purse and wanted to show it off a bit – you need to always remember to TREAT YO’ SELF!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I had been eyeing a FOUNT purse for a while now and wanted my first one to be versatile. I wanted to be able to travel with it, but still be able to use it for every day. I settled on the Bellfield Tote in cocoa and although it comes with The Kestrel Keychain I decided to also get The Classic Fount Tassel Charm to add a little dimension to the outside of the bag. One of the owners Jackie saw me making the purchase and wanted to know what color I chose in my bag because she said: “they always want to match people to the color bag that compliments them the most”. I really appreciated that added personal touch and the fact the owner came up because she generally wanted to see what I was buying. I bought mine at the Cleveland Flea, but these bags are made in Cleveland and they have a location in Gordon Square in Cleveland and The Short North in Columbus. The straps are hand sown and are insured to last for the life of the bag and I actually stopped in the store this past weekend and they conditioned my bag for free. These bags are guaranteed to get better with age and everyone that I have talked to that owns one seems to love their bag more and more each year.

After we finished up in Canton on our way back to Cleveland we decided to go and make the most of that beautiful fall day and go do a self-guided tour of Stan Hywet estate. We were able to walk through the hallways of this breathtaking estate that has been preserved so remarkably and take a stroll through the gardens that were so beautiful. I would love to go back in spring to see all the flowers in full bloom.

What this weekend showed me was that we need to remember that although we are so lucky to live in a city that offers us so much to do we need to take time out and visit all the other wonderful cities in Northeast Ohio.

An Evening with Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe

Woah, where did the past 2 weeks go? I have been going nonstop lately that I haven’t had a second to sit down and share my recent experience at Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe in Strongsville.

I was invited by Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe to come and check out one of their culinary classes they offer and I decided to bring my mom with me to make a mother-daughter night. My mom and I do a lot of fun activities together but one thing we have really done was truly cook together. This opportunity was a great setting for us to sip wine, learn some tips & tricks, and assist each other in cooking part of a traditional Italian meal.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

For me, this was not only a fun night to do something different and fun with my mom but I was also able to catch up with other local bloggers and meet some that I haven’t had an opportunity to yet. Since Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe opened it has been a new stop on a lot of local blogger’s list to not only snap a picture in the most instagramable cafe in the area but also try one of their delicious coffee options and pick something up from the bakery.

For the traditional Italian culinary class Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe hosted for us, we all had the opportunity to learn some great techniques from Chef Josh before setting us free in the kitchen to get cooking. Chef Josh made frequent rounds with everyone to make sure everyone was comfortable with what they were tasked with and if anyone had any questions. I loved that I never felt that I was waiting for help because anytime a question came up there was Chef Josh ready to answer and do a mini demonstration.

Once we had everything ready to be popped in the oven the owners Darlene and James took us around the cafe and gallery for a more in-depth look at everything. Most people walking in may not even realize that this is not the only venture the couple owns and operates. Architectural Justice Gallery & Cafe showcases the all of the talents that their design center and workshop is capable of out in Medina, Ohio. If anyone is interested in sprucing up their home I would definitely recommend checking out their website here to see all the things they can do.

We walked around their gallery where you are able to purchase some amazing pieces from local businesses to stylish home goods. I love the showcase of local Cleveland businesses it truly makes the place feel authentic to its roots.

Once our dinner was finished cooking we all sat down at the family-sized table in their demonstration kitchen and were ready to enjoy our 5-course meal. Now don’t get me wrong I love cooking as much as the next person, but I do take shortcuts to make the process go faster, including precooked or premix/put together parts. BUT let me tell you creating this entire meal from scratch was some of the best food I have enjoyed in a while. I can now see why my mother and grandmother would spend all day cooking from scratch.

Finally verdict? If you are looking for something different to do for either a girls night, date night, mother-daughter, or any other occasion this is the place to go to get out of the routine and get your hands dirty a little. Check out all of their future classes here and sign up fast because they fill up fast! I mean, how could they not?

Not in the mood for a class? This place is also a great destination for weekend brunch, a midweek wine night with friends, or even just a quick stop for coffee and a pastry. OH! and you can’t forget to snap a picture during your visit since every corner of that place has perfect light and even better aesthetic.

Wrapped Up in Style

Style is defined by expressing yourself through what you wear.

Style refers to a unique form of clothing or way of arranging your appearance.

Style is different to everyone, you can give two or more people the same piece of clothing and they may style it completely different in what their own vision of style is.

Today’s post is in collaboration with Meach from My Versatile Style blog. Meach is a fellow Clevelander and a kickass girlboss who shows off her killer sense of style and how to style versatile pieces. I love looking at her Instagram (@itsmemeach) for inspiration and the latest fashion trends.

We are showing you today how 2 different people take the same piece of clothing and make it into 2 different outfits with their own personal style. We both took the same floral wrap dress from Nordstrom Rack with these great tied off bow cuffs and styled it our own ways in terms of what our personal style means to us.

IMG_7916

IMG_7938

Meach really captured the essence of transitional fashion by taking this long-sleeved dress and pairing it with nude stacked heels and a cognac leather bag. She truly balanced that in-between season style, since even though its October we have been getting some 80 degree days. Another thing I really love about her look is, she truly let the dress be the hero. She is not trying to make the dress work she is working the dress.

Are you inspired yet? I know I am, and I am going to file this look away for the next time I wear my dress. Check out what she has to say and additional gorgeous photos of Meach working this dress on her blog here!

When styling the same dress for myself, I know I wanted to take what felt like a more feminine wrap dress and give it a more edgy feel by adding little details that I have been loving lately to show off a different side of this dress.

Thick black belts with brass hardware is a classic piece that is truly timeless – there is something vintage about it that I love. To add a bit of edge I am wearing my favorite pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses right now that I cannot get enough of. For a while, their wayfarers were a staple but in the past 2 years, the round metal style truly made a comeback and the thin gold metal gives them an effortlessly cool vibe.

I wanted to add to the retro aspect of this look and I thought my gold hoops from Target would be perfect, as they hint at a 70s feel but don’t take to much away from my overall look. I have been wearing my gold hoops religiously lately, I truly feel that gold hoops are the new diamond (or CZ) stud – a classic in the making.

We can’t forget to talk about my latest obsession… socks & heels

If you remember from my blog post last week which I talked about this fall trend and gave some inspiration here, I thought this dress would be perfect to add this touch too. Some might see it as a bit much or busy, but I think it truly brings this outfit into fall and takes the dress to this retro yet trendy level that I was craving.

This dress is currently in stock at Nordstrom Rack last time I checked. And if you do not feel like heading out to your local Nordy Rack store never fear as you can snag it online as well here for only $26! I got a size medium, but honestly with the elastic waist I really probably could have gotten a small. Also, here is some other floral wrap dress that I am swooning over.

Alson Jewelers & IPPOLITA

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a Bloggers & Bellinis event at Alson Jewelers in Woodmere, Ohio. Alson teamed up with IPPOLITA Jewelry to discuss fall jewelry trends and great tips and tricks for styling your jewelry by Courtney Craft, Stylist from IPPOLITA.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The morning was filled with beautiful jewelry, great company, and of course bellinis. We all got to try on some of the most beautiful and versatile necklaces from IPPOLITA and learn different ways to layer and create different looks with one necklace. What I loved about the IPPOLITA’s necklaces is that they are designed to be easily worn multiple ways. You can simply just slip it over your neck, wrap it to create a layered look, or create a choker that gives you a Y look that either drapes down your back or chest to add an interesting touch to your outfits. Courtney also demonstrated to us with IPPOLITA’s oval-shaped bangles (which are designed to fit a womans wrist more comfortably since we do not have perfectly circled wrists) how to use a silk scarf to put on and remove a bangle with ease.

We all then took a Style Personality Quiz to help match us with the perfect jewelry set – I got Classicist which did not surprise me as I would describe my style as “minimal and meaningful”.

I want to give a special shout-out to Jill Schreibman and the Schreibman Brothers for hosting such a wonderful event at 4th generation owned Alson Jewelers. This jeweler has so much to offer – watch and jewelry repair & cleaning, a beautiful wedding shop, along with great fashion to classic jewelry offerings; they truly made it a one stop shop!

Amanda from Blissful Gal and Katie from Kausally Katie – Go check out these ladies blogs they are seriously killing it!

After the Bloggers & Bellinis event Amanda, Katie and I decided to head to Legacy Village to grab a bite to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and do a little much-needed shopping. Which of course when you get 3 bloggers together a mini photo session ensues, but can you blame us? The day was to much fun not to properly document.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

After shopping till we almost dropped we decided to end this amazing Cleveland day with checking out the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. I was really excited to check it out since I have never been there and have heard great things about this little Cleveland gem.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

What I loved about the Aquarium was there were so many knowledgeable workers there in case you had any questions about what you were looking at or they were already giving a presentation for a larger exhibit that you can easily join to listen in. The Aquarium also provides a lot of touch and feel stations to give a more one on one experience and teach kids and adults a little bit more how to interact with sea life.

You could tell that we were all Finding Nemo and Finding Dory fans since our venture through the aquarium consisted a lot of quoting both movies.

Bottomline if you are looking for a fun, nicely located, and family friendly (of all ages) weekend activity you should take a day out of your weekend and check out the Greater Cleveland Aquarium.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Thank you Greater Cleveland Aquarium for having Amanda, Katie and I come and explore everything you have to offer!
